FUNAAB VC Seeks to Consolidate Relationship with FMC, Others

…Says they are FUNAAB’s Partners in Progress

In a bid to consolidate as well as enhance Town and Gown relationship with other Federal Government’s Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA’s) in Abeokuta, the capital city of Ogun State, the Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Professor Kolawole Salako has paid courtesy visits to the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba; Federal College of Education (FCE), Osiele and Ogun Osun River Basin Development Authority (OORBDA).

At FMC, Professor Salako commended the hospital for its unquantifiable contributions to qualitative health care delivery to students and staff of FUNAAB, pledging that the University would partner FMC’s Management in its bid to establish a Federal University Teaching Hospital in Ogun State. According to him, the establishment of the Teaching Hospital is a welcome development as it will enhance quality health care delivery services.

Speaking at the occasion, the Medical Director, Professor Adewale Musa disclosed that right from inception of FMC, it had been the dream of the hospital to establish a University Teaching Hospital and that 170 hectares of land had already been acquired for the project. He, therefore, pleaded for FUNAAB’s support towards the success of the project, noting that it was the first time a Vice-Chancellor from FUNAAB would officially visit FMC.

While at ORBDA, Professor Salako stated that though he was a friend of the house, the University still needed to collaborate with OORBDA in the aspect of training of her students. His words, “We need to continue to partner with you so that our students can continue to gain practical experience here. We want to keep sustaining and maintaining the cordial relationship”.

Responding, the Managing Director of OORBDA, Mr. Olufemi Odumosu congratulated the Vice-Chancellor on his well-deserved appointment, assuring him of OORBDA’s continued support for the University.

In a separate visit to FCE, Professor Salako said that FUNAAB has been a good neighbour to FCE. He stressed that the University since its establishment 30 years ago had made its mark, crediting the Managements of the two Institutions for the lasting peace within the community.

In his response, the Provost of FCE, Dr. Ayodele Ajayi commended the good working relationship with the University, promising to sustain it.
