FAMILY BACKGROUND
Rt.. Hon Olusegun Bolanle Gbeleyi (OBG) was born on 11th October, 1962 to late Hon (Chief) E. A. O. Gbeleyi, the Otun Oba of Igbesaland, who was elected into the House of Representatives in Lagos (1964-1966) representing Egbado South Federal Constituency. Late Chief Gbeleyi was also the Junior Federal Minister for Labour and Parliamentary Secretary for Labour under the administration of Sir Tafawa Balewa prior to the first military coup of January 1966.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Rt.. Hon Olusegun Bolanle Gbeleyi (OBG) attended the Muslim Teacher’s College Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria, where he was awarded Grade II Teacher’s CeRt.ificate in General Teaching of Education in 1981. He continued his education in London where he majored in Business and Financial Studies before progressing to Kent Institute of ARt.s & Design to specialise in Time-Based Media (B.A. Hons).

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT/NATIONAL ASSIGNMENT
Otunba (Hon) Olusegun Bolanle Gbeleyi is also the first Nigerian to publish a tabloid newspaper —The Socialite— in the United Kingdom, which was launched in August, 1989.

He also represented Nigeria twice as an Official Delegate at the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Conference in the year 2000, held in the UK and also in the year 2002, held in Namibia, and one ach occasion, presented paper.

In 2000, at the CPA 46th Conference he presented paper on “PoveRt.y Alleviation, Debt Relief as a Tool for Sustainable Democracy”. During the conference in the UK held in both London and Edinburgh. OBG presented a strong case for Nigeria’s debt relief to sustain its then ascent democracy, and moved the motion which was unanimously adopted for implementation by the Commonwealth.

POLITICAL EXPERIENCE
In June 1999, an energetic, transparent and articulate OBG was elected to represent the Ado-Odo/Ota II State Constituency (Ado-Odo/Igbesa) as Member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, under the platform of the Alliance for Democracy (AD). He was subsequently elected as the Deputy Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly and served his full term meritoriously from 1999 to 2003. OBG also served as Vice Chairman and member of the following committees: Rules and Business, Select Committee, Finance and General Purpose, Works and Housing, Public Account, Finance & Appropriation, and Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs.

As a State Lawmaker, Rt. Hon Olusegun Bola Gbeleyi co-sponsored 16 bills out of 30 passed into law; Sponsored 5 motions and co-sponsored 75 out of 250 others, covering issues on: education; health; roads; water; agriculture and the general welfare of the people in Ogun State.

During the April 2007 General Election, OBG contested for the Ogun West Senatorial Seat, as the official candidate of the Action Congress (AC).

As a good political analyst he played major roles during the April 2011 election and also served as the PaRt.y Agent for Ogun West Senatorial District, during the 2011 general elections. In 2011, OBG was made a member of Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s Policy Drafting Committee on Local and Chieftaincy Affairs. This committee recommended the creation of more Local Governments which gave biRt.h to the additional 37 Local Council Development Authorities (LCDAs).

In April 2015, OBG served as a member of the sub-committee for Strategy & Planning for Senator Ibikunle Amosun’s Campaign Organisation. He was also a Resource Trainer on the Conduct of Elections and Safeguarding votes, for party agents and supervisory agents across the state and served as the APC party agent to Ogun West Senatorial District during the 2015 general elections.

In 2016, His Excellency, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, CON, FCA, appointed Rt. Hon Olusegun Bola Gbeleyi as a Consultant to the Ogun State Governor on Power: Ogun State Administration Rt. Hon Gbeleyi is in charge of the Independent Power Plant (IPP) project being carried out by Sholep Energy Ltd to generate 5MW of solar power for the use of Ogun State Polytechnic, Ipokia and its environs on a "pay as u go" basis.

Rt. Hon Gbeleyi is also the head of a five-man monitoring committee supervising the reconstruction of Atan/Agbara road with a flyover bridge. In addition OBG has been assigned by His Excellency, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, CON, FCA, to coordinate the World Bank project on new power line routes of 203km.

TRADITIONAL TITLES CONFERRED
On the 10th Aug, 1996 Rt. Hon Gbeleyi was installed as Arole Otunba of Igbesaland.

Also on 6th May, 2006 he was installed as Adimula of Odan Sule Abuja, Ejila Aworiland.

FAMILY LIFE
Rt. Hon Olusegun Bolanle Gbeleyi has a Baptist Christian faith. He is happily married and blessed with three children.
