Taking up the character of Lefty was quite challenging – Funke Akindele opens up on struggle behind the making of omoghetto


Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, has opened up on some of the challenges she encountered during the making of the record-breaking movie, Omo ghetto the saga. 

The 43-year-old via her Instagram page talked about how she went through rigorous training and emotions to attain perfection when acting the movie. She further went on to reveal how she literality lived and breathed the character from the point of creation.

In her own words; 

“Taking up the character of #Lefty in #omoghettothesaga was quite challenging and it took a whole lot of rigorous training, emotions and substitution in truthfully interpreting the character.

I literarily lived, breathed and ate the character from the point I began to write, till the principal photography of the movie was done. I trained myself to perfectly do these things to deliver flawless performance.

However, I’m grateful for the good reviews I’ve gotten so far concerning the delivery of LEFTY.”

Funke Akindele-Bello’s Omo Ghetto, the saga movie, was recently declared Nollywood’s highest-grossing movie of all time. In a statement released by the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria, Omo Ghetto The Saga has broken Nollywood’s box office record with a cum revenue of N501,449,050.

The movie which was released in cinemas on Christmas Day December 25, 2020 has also broken the four-year record as highest-grossing Nollywood movie of all time formerly held by Kemi Adetiba’s The Wedding Party.
