MTN has been major sponsor of Ogoriba Festival for the past 7years. Ogoriba is a festival that the people of Odi Community celebrates every year in remembrance of a Buffalo that terrorized the community before it was killed.
This years edition of the celebration has MTN , one of the leading network in Nigeria and Africa in attendance with all their people on ground .
According to the MTN team leader Bayelsa State , Mrs Chinnwe Nwoye , she said MTN is culture friendly and that they have been one of the major sponsor since seven years ago with the Festival of Ogoriba in Odi community, Bayelsa state .
The team leader said apart from giving jobs out to our children , MTN helps to promote our businesses .MTN contribution in the area of our economy in Nigeria is very huge .
On how insecurity that has been major problem in Bayelsa State , Mrs Chinnwe Nwoye said we can't condemn outrightly that the indigenes should not fight for their right but it must be in form of dialogue .
She said " if there is friendly environment, it means MTN we have good coverage .So , there is need for all of us to embrace dialogue as a means of resolving our differences . MTN as a company are not selfish.
" We are trying to promote 4G network in every nooks and cranny . Now we are in Yenagoa , we are moving to Lembe . So , if we have good friendly environment , it means we will do more .Check what is happening at the University of Etuoke , it was not like this in the last three years ." she said .
