Ogun State governor , Prince Dapo Abiodun has set up Chieftaincy Review Committee to look into all the appointments and upgraded done by last government in led by immediate former governor of Ogun State , senator Ibikunle Amosun among the Obas .
The governor who spoke to the journalists in his Office in Abeokuta Oke Mosan today said the appointment and promotion of the traditional rulers which was done by the last government has since generated a lot of mixed reactions by the public and there is need to set up committee to address all the shortcomings .
He noted that there is need to acknowledge the valuable roles our Obas or traditional rulers play in our community . He said the committee would be charged to address all the reactions generated in appointment made by senator Ibikunle Amosun led administration, make appropriate recommendations and identity all the Obas involved .
According to the chairman of the committee, Obas Kehinde Olugbenle , the Paramount Ruler of Yewaland ,he said the institution has been bastardized by the last regime led by senator Ibikunle Amosun. He said the number of 1st Class Obas is nothing to write home about .
He noted that the Paramount Rulers led by the Awujale of Ijebuland , Obas Dr Sikiru Adetona tried their best to advise the immediate former governor on why Obas should not be compensated with promotion even as earlier done by former governors but the governor did not heed to their advice .
He then promised the governor that the committee will not leave any stone unturned and make appropriate recommendations where necessary .
Among members of the committee are: The Osile of Egbaland , Obas Dr Adedapo Tejuoso , Obas Yinusa Adekoya and High Chief Yinka Kufile .
