Exclusive: How APC plans to take over Plateau assembly, destabilize governance, and impeach Governor Mutfwang

In what appears to be a desperate political maneuver, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has allegedly launched a covert strategy aimed at frustrating the administration of Executive Governor Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, with the ultimate goal of removing him from office by the end of 2025.

This was revealed by a source reportedly close to the leadership of the APC in the state. The source, who asked to remain anonymous due to the sensitive nature of the information, disclosed that the plan involves using certain members of the Plateau State House of Assembly to create legislative instability.

These lawmakers, who recently reclaimed their mandates through the appeal court, are said to be financially strained due to legal expenses incurred during their court battles.

According to the insider, the APC intends to exploit this vulnerability by pressuring the lawmakers into cooperating with the party’s agenda. It is alleged that the APC will threaten or blackmail these legislators into initiating the removal of the current Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Dewan Kudangbena Gabriel, a key ally of Governor Mutfwang.

The removal of the Speaker, the source explained, is intended to weaken the governor’s influence within the House, paralyze legislative proceedings, and pave the way for impeachment processes.

The broader objective, the source claims, is to create enough chaos and dysfunction within the state’s legislative and executive arms to warrant a State of Emergency, similar to the political crisis recently witnessed in Rivers State.

By doing so, the APC reportedly hopes to justify federal intervention, thereby forcing out the current administration and regaining control of Plateau State.

“This is not just about politics. It is a calculated effort to destabilize Plateau State, undermine democracy, and seize power at any cost,” the source warned.

The informant further claimed that the APC has vowed to reclaim the state in the 2027 general elections by any means necessary, even if it means disrupting the hard-earned peace and stability the state has experienced under Governor Mutfwang's leadership.

As part of the broader plot, the source revealed that the recent invitation of the sacked lawmakers by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is no coincidence. Many of these individuals currently serve in key positions in Governor Mutfwang’s administration as Commissioners and Liaison Officers. The EFCC’s move is allegedly aimed at damaging their reputations, thereby eroding public trust in the Governor’s appointees, and eventually, in the Governor himself.

“Once the people lose confidence in these appointees, they will naturally begin to question the credibility of the Governor who appointed them. It’s a psychological strategy to weaken public support,” the source stated.

In light of these revelations, the source issued a strong call to action to the people of Plateau State, urging them to remain vigilant and united regardless of political affiliations. The source stressed the importance of prioritizing peace, stability, and the collective progress of the state over partisan interests.

“This is the time for Plateau people—across all political divides—to come together and defend the democracy we’ve built. If we allow selfish interests to tear us apart, the future of our state will be at stake,” the source concluded.
