I am undeterred by the malicious steps taken by the opposition to stop the people's mandate in the forthcoming general elections - Aderinokun

Ogun Central PDP Senatorial District candidate, Chief Olumide Aderinokun has responded to 'baseless' reports that claimed he was convicted of fraud and imprisoned.

Chief Aderinokun described the move sponsored by the APC's media influencers to tarnish his image as a dead plan on arrival.

A report which claims Chief Aderinokun was imprisoned in Kirikiri prison was circulated earlier this week, however, the Ogun Central PDP Senatorial District candidate through his media aide - Taiye Taiwo, has set the records straight.

A statement titled "Aderinokun: Ogun Central PDP Senatorial District candidate replies APC over blizzard of deception" revealed Chief Aderinokun who is a real estate developer had a business dispute with Lagos State Government which was dragged to court by the government and he was never convicted of any crime before it was dismissed.

"There was a business dispute between Chief Aderinokun and Lagos State Government in 2017, it was later moved to a state High Court by the Lagos State Government," the statement read.

"In the first hearing of the case, the court granted Chief Aderinokun bail and the conditions were instantly met by his sureties and he did not step into Kirikiri prison as widely reported.

"After further appearances in court, the case was discontinued and dismissed in the Lagos State High Court in pursuant to section 71 of the ACJI 2021 (as amended)."

Taiwo reiterated that Chief Aderinokun and the people of Ogun Central Senatorial District are undeterred by the malicious steps taken by the opposition to stop the people's mandate in the forthcoming general elections.

He also assured that the Owu chief will not stop putting smiles on people's faces with his empowerment support programmes across the six Local Government Areas in Ogun Central which aimed at relieving the economic hardship in the Gateway State and Nigeria, at large.
