2023: Saraki lobbying for Atiku’s DG to finance Kwara election

Reports has emerged of how a former Senate President, Abubakar Bukola Saraki is desperately lobbying to be appointed as the Director General of the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Council.

Recall that Saraki after coming distant third in the 2019 election with 317 votes picked the Senatorial form of the party for Kwara Central and he was subsequently appointed by the winner of the Presidential Primary, Atiku as his Campaign DG.

Also in preparatory to 2023 election, Saraki with his exaggerated sense of influence also contested for the Presidency but also maintained his position in the third place with a paltry 70 votes to boot.

Atiku has subsequently appointed Saraki former ally, the Ayingba born Senator Dino Melaye from Kogi State and Legal Practitioner Daniel Bwala from Atiku's homestead Adamawa State, both from North Central and North East.

There's an ongoing turf in the PDP along the Southern and Northern line.

The Southern caucus led by the vivacious Governor Nyesom Wike are saying all the party leadership are held by the North, Party Chairman, BOT Chairman, Presidential Candidate among others.

The caucus are now demanding for Ayu’s resignation as the party's Chairman to settle the crisis and subsequently work together.

With Atiku not dispose to Ayu’s resignation, Saraki ambition of leading Atiku's campaign has hit a rock bottom.

A source said, “Saraki is desperately working to be the DG, but I am not sure Atiku would want to toll that line anymore because of the current agenda of Northernersiation of the PDP.

“Atiku Spokespersons are both from North Central and North East appointing Saraki as the DG would now make it a North campaign council.

“Atiku is being careful notwithstanding, because he needs to appoint his campaign DG from the South. Anything apart from that Atiku can kiss the presidency good-bye.”

A PDP Chieftain in Kwara who pleaded anonymity said, “If you look at the Alanamu market inferno, APC candidates including the governor all dolled out relief funds, all our candidates didn't donate 10 kobo, until we eventually called Leader to bail them out most especially Bolaji Abdullahi.

“Saraki spent a lot thinking he would win the PDP ticket, so he's broke, he can't singlehandedly finance election in Kwara.

“So he's seriously lobbying to be Atiku DG so he can get enough money to finance election in Kwara.

“If Atiku didn't pick Saraki, there would be problem for us in Kwara, because almost all our candidates are broke and now looking for finance.

“The APC candidates are moving doing several empowerments, did you see anybody in the PDP doing anything? There's no fund let's call a spade a spade.

“See our boys, they've lost thier morale, no matter how committed they're, without money, they can't do anything. That's the fact.”
