The Kwara Political Front (KPF) has demanded a probe of the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed over his serial mismanagement of campaign funds.
In a statement on Monday, the KPF President, Alhaji Abdullahi Mohammed, accused the Minister of diverting donations meant for the prosecution of the 2019 elections, which is not limited to monetary donations alone, but also includes tangibles like motor vehicles and motorcycles.
The KPF President alleged that the fund was also used to finance personal campaign project to make it mischievously look like the Minister was the one personally financing some campaign activities.
“Since Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has said his own part on the diverted funds, the KPF calls for an urgent investigation into the alleged reportedly diverted campaign funds said to have been sourced by Alhaji Lai Mohammed.
"The KPF calls for an independent investigation in view of prior allegations of diversion of similar funds donated for the election of Mohammed Dele Belgore in 2011,” the statement read.
The KPF in its statement on Monday, said the Minster’s silence on the allegations after Gov Abdulrazaq's allegations shows that his hands were soiled.
