Gbemi Saraki not in tune with Kwara realities - APC spokesman

Kwara state All Progressives Congress, APC have accused the minister of state for Transportation, Senator Gbemisola Saraki for making a false allegations about the ongoing party registration and revalidation exercise.

Recently, Senetor Gbemisola Saraki alleged that members of the party did not register and revalidate their membership at her polling unit, Ajikobi Ward in Ilorin West LGA.

But in their reaction, the party in a statement signed by the state publicity secretary, Alhaji Tajudeen Aro Folaranmi said there is no iota of truth in the senator's comment, saying she has not been familiar with happenings in the state since she was appointed.

The statement reads:

Our attention has been drawn to a video in which Minister of State for Transport Senator Gbemisola Saraki claimed that people were not being registered in her polling unit or Ajikobi Ward of Ilorin West Local Government Area.
This claim is false, infantile, and it again exposes the fact that the Minister is totally not in tune with the happenings in her own political constituency. But this is not surprising because she has hardly been in the state for more than four times since she was appointed a Minister.
That the Minister is making this claim after nearly two months of ongoing registration goes to show her scanty commitment, if any, to the party in the state.
For the avoidance of doubt, hundreds of thousands of people have registered in the ongoing revalidation and registration exercise of our party across Kwara State, including in Ajikobi Ward.
This is against the backdrop of her request through a highly placed Legislator that her membership revalidation be done at her residence, an offer that was flatly rejected.
Rather than seek to muddle the water, the Minister is advised to go to her own polling unit and see if she would be registered or not. Every other person, including various party leaders, is being registered at their own polling units. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Hon. Minister of Information Alhaji Lai Mohammed, National Assembly members and House of Assembly leaders and other top leaders and thousands of party members alike have all been registered at their respective polling units across the state.
Isn’t it therefore odd to hear Senator Saraki saying she has not been registered after almost two months that the exercise has begun? Where has she been? Doesn’t that expose her nonchalant attitude to party development in the state that she represents in the Federal Executive Council?
It is noteworthy to clarify that Senator Gbemisola Saraki sees herself as an island. She does not relate with majority of the party leaders and party members in the state. It is therefore disingenuous for her to suddenly surface in Ilorin and claim that people are not being registered.
We urge the national secretariat of the party and people of goodwill to ignore the antics of Senator Saraki who is not known to contribute to any party affairs in the state before and since she emerged as a Minister. She is simply crying wolf where there is none.
We urge the Minister to take a cue from other party leaders who were gentlemanly in their conduct during their registration exercise and stop this antic of shadow-chasing.
