Chairman of Community Development Council (CDC) in Ilorin West local government, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Gerewu and Women Representative in Ekiti local government, Princess Abosede Daniel are confident that, the AbdulRazaq-led administration in Kwara State will make meaningful impacts in more rural communities across the State.
The duo made the clarification while featuring on a government enlargement programme monitored on Albarka fm radio station.
Gerewu said, the formation and inauguration of community development council by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in 2020 showed that he had the intention of executing projects where they are actually needed.
“We were elected in August 2020 under the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazq and sworn-in before the end of the year. The decision to have a community development council, undoubtedly will assist government in accessing a channel to the community development associations in every local government area of the State.
“For us in Ilorin West we have bought hospital equipment for two facilities through our DPM (Director of Personnel Management) and sunk a borehole in Kangu community where they had suffered lack of clean safe water. We are assisting government on locations where to place waste containers (Roll on, Roll off bins). Communities in those locations are providing maximum support in an effort to achieve hygienic and clean environment”, he submitted.
The duties that are performed by this council touch every facet of our life in the rural communities.
Princess Daniel emphasized that, the community development council is already providing support for government on a number of areas including support for teachers to stay in their duty posts among others.
“We moved round schools to ensure teachers posted to the rural communities stay at their duty posts. This we took upon ourselves because on a number of occasions we found that, teachers posted to rural communities absconded. We want the trend to stop, as we will extend our services to the health centers. We are the mothers we are in regular communication with our children and wards; we know their needs. Again, more women visit clinics for various reasons including ante natal,” she submitted.
