Issa Aremu hails Gov AbdulRazaq as Kwara Govt celebrates him at 60


• I Don’t Regret Stepping Down for AbdulRazaq – Issa Aremu

Comrade (Alhaji) Issa Aremu mni, who is the vice president of Global Industrial Union and the former  Secretary General of Textile and Garment Union of Nigeria, was on Friday celebrated by family, friends, colleagues and other well-wishers on the occasion of his 60th birthday themed “Celebrating Life In A Pandemic.”

Garnishing the event was Novelty Cycling from Kwara State Stadium Complex to Ilorin Grammar School (IGS) Geri Alimi, Surulere Road, Ilorin, his alma mater. He had a tour round the school and after inspecting the school he commended the governor for renovating the school and several others in the state.

Comrade Aremu while assessing and responding to a question by one of the journalists whether he regrets his step down for the incumbent governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, in the last gubernatorial election, and given your full support said that, “the truth is that, I do not regret stepping down for Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. I visit my alma mater, Ilorin Grammar School (IGS) to mark my 60th birthday. I see developments and renovations.”

He noted that, “we have other good things that he has done which are highly commendable. I have to acknowledge that governing is not easy in the general sense of it but the governor is doing his best, ”adding that, “I am also aware that the minimum wage has been approved. So, I do not regret stepping down for him.

He also commended employment opportunities open for teachers, further encouraging the Governor to do more acknowledging the financial predicament of the nation at this time.

Meanwhile, the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has congratulated Comrade Issa Aremu on his 60th birthday anniversary, calling him a pride of the state and one of of the most accomplished and conscientious labour leaders of all time.
 
“The Governor commends the consistency, sincerity, and doggedness of Comrade Aremu in his life-long campaign for the welfare of the working class and a better society, especially in his native Kwara, where he had long been a voice of change. As Comrade Aremu celebrates his diamond jubilee, His Excellency fully identifies with and reassures him of the administration’s commitment to rebuilding a state where development is spread equitably and everyone is afforded a space to thrive,” according to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Rafiu Ajakaye.
“His Excellency asserts that Comrade Aremu's passion for the textile industry and industrialisation is shared by the administration, which is set to invest in the garment and cottage industries to revive that sub-sector, create jobs for the people, and raise living standards in the state. On behalf of his family, the people and government of Kwara State, the Governor felicitates with the Comrade, his family and the labour movement in Nigeria on this landmark in his impactful life. 
“He prays the Almighty God to grant Comrade Aremu good health and more rewarding years ahead.”
