Help sustain professionalism in broadcasting - Ogun Commissioner for Information charges NBC


The Ogun State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Alhaji Abdulwaheed Odusile, has called on the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), to address the menace of fake news in broadcast media, in order to sustain professionalism in the broadcast profession.

Odusile who said this at the 5th Anniversary Lecture of SWEET FM radio station held in Abeokuta. He stated that the broadcast media is  smashed  with some discussion, where opinions were stated as facts, thus misleading the public.

"It is high time NBC did more to arrest the ugly trend of misleading information dissemination.
The public look forward to the media for reliable facts and broadcasters, by virtue of their work, are influencers. In this respect, whoever has the privilege to be seen or heard must maintain the standard", he said.

In his remarks, a politician and Chief Executive Officer, Lucinda  Media, Senator Gbenga Obadara, cleared the air on the wrong notion that people might have about the establishment of SWEET FM, going by his love for politics, saying the station is not politically influenced.
