OGUN WATER CORPORATION BEGINS IBEREKODO DAM REHABILITATION

The Ogun State Water Corporation has commenced the rehabilitation of its dam on the Ogun River at Iberekodo in Abeokuta.

The rehabilitation works on the dam built in 1958 and commissioned in 1962 was delayed by the global lockdown occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic which delayed the arrival of equipment and experts.

Speaking on the development, the Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Water Resources, Engr. Kunle Otun said the Ogun State Water Corporation is working with Ogun-Oshun River Basin Development Authority, OORBDA to ensure healthy water level is maintained for potable water production as the barrage gates are open for replacement work.

Engr. Otun charged the contractors to be safety-conscious, adding that the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led Government in Ogun State will not entertain negligence or lapses that could lead to injury, in the course of the rehabilitation works.
