Ogun Lawmaker Cries Out Over PVC Issuance By INEC

A member of the Ogun State House Of Assembly representing Ijebu North East State constituency, Olujimi Otukoya, has advised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to perfect the ongoing PVC registration exercise by ensuring prompt collection of PVC to avoid disenfranchisement  of electorates in the forth coming general elections.

Otukoya stated this on the floor of the House of Assembly during  plenary yesterday in Abeokuta.

Hon Otukoya who was the chairman house committee on cooperative and community development explained that it was very important for INEC to have a good and solid foundation towards their preparation for February, 2019 general elections in the country.

He said government has been mobilising and sensitisong people towards the on going registration, regretting however, INEC inability to  print out the PVC to registered voters.

While calling on Prof Yakubu Mahmud, the national chairman of the independent national electoral commission, INEC, to explain to Nigerian reasons copies of PVC have not been issued to the electorates so far?

"My concern is to know the number of PVCs that were printed out by INEC and the imprinted  backlog to be used next year" He said

"Otukoya added that during the 2015 general election, majority of my people from Ijebu North East Local government were disenfranchised from voting due to non availability of PVCs for them to excercise the civic responsibilities during the polls."

While advising federal government to be sincere in the ongoing voters registration in Nigeria to ensure that people will not be deprived of right to choose

Honourable Olujimi Otukoya, who hail from Odosimadegun and a card carry member of Peoples Democratic Party PDP from Ijebu North/East Local government, also described permanent voter's card,PVC as the weapon that could be used by the electortes to elect leaders in their respective constituencies.

Otukoya implored the good people of Odosimadegun and environs in Ijebu North/East local government, Atan and Ogun State  to get registered with INEC, with a view to obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) that would enable them to participate in the forthcoming election nationwide.
