FUNAAB DEBUNK FAKE FACEBOOK ACCOUNT TO IMPERSONATE VC

The authorities of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, FUNAAB had cried to the general public not to accept any request from a cloned Facebook account to impersonate the Vice Chancellor, Professor Felix Kolawole Salako, saying it's intention is to defraud members of the public.

The Management disclosed this in a letter which its copy was sent to TRENDINGMETRO this evening. The letter read thus:

"Disclaimer Notice: Impersonation of Professor Felix Kolawole Salako (Vice-Chancellor, FUNAAB) on Facebook

"The attention of the authorities of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has been drawn to the existence of a cloned Facebook account claiming to belong to the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Felix Kolawole Salako, with the purpose of impersonating him and defrauding unsuspecting prospective students of the University online.

"The holder of the fake Facebook account used as a guise, “Felix Salako” with his picture as Vice-Chancellor alongside the picture of the Senate Building of the University, to send fraudulent direct messages to people in the nature of friend requests, financial solicitations as well as admission updates/other posts on the page.

"We wish to state that Professor Felix Kolawole Salako, the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), neither operates the said Facebook account nor has any association with the operators of the account.

"The authorities of the University therefore denounce the fraudulent, nefarious and unscrupulous impersonation and hereby alert the public that the Vice-Chancellor has never solicited for, and will never solicit for funds as being propagated by these impostors.

"Also, the Vice-Chancellor will never give admission updates except through authorised University organ.

"The general public is warned that anyone who engages in any business or other transactions with the said impostor(s) does so at his/her own risk.

"Please be guided accordingly!
