As christians across the world mark the birth of Jesus Christ, the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Suraju Ishola Adekunbi has enjoined Nigerians, especially christians to continue to reflect on the essence of their faith which signifies love, sacrifice and brotherliness at all times as exemplified by Jesus Christ.
Adekunbi in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Waheed Akinola enjoined christians to use the period to pray for the continued progress and development in the State and the nation, saying that the birth of Christ remained one of the greatest things that had happened to humanity.
Soliciting for their support through prayers, the Speaker noted that such continued support by the people were essential towards the delivery of more democratic dividends to the citizenry.
He also pleaded with the people to exercise a little more patience on the fuel situation in the country as the Federal government through its relevant agencies was already addressing the situation.
He assured the people of the State that the current administration in the State would not relent at improving their socio-economic status, while wishing them the best in the new year; he also counseled them to always reflect on the virtues of Christ, whom he described as the reason for the season.
Meanwhile, christians have been enjoined to continue to imbibe the spirit of love, kindness, tolerance, selflessness and brotherliness which the christian faith preaches so as to promote a better society.
The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Suraju Ishola Adekunbi gave the charge in his message at the 2017 edition of the Christmas Carol Service of nine lessons held at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Adekunbi, who lauded the House of Assembly workers for sustaining the tempo of dedication to work and religious obligations, assured them of better days ahead.
He noted that the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led administration would continue to deliver on its electoral promises so as to achieve the success of the ongoing rebuilding mission in the State.
Earlier in his sermon, Pastor Segun Ayorinde of the Apostolic Church, urged the congregation to re-dedicate themselves to the service of God and help promote evangelism.
Those who read the Bible lessons at the Carol service included the Deputy Speaker Olakunle Oluomo, Honourables Olayiwola Ojodu , Yetunde Sogbein-Adekanbi, Julianah Akintayo, Akanbi Bankole and the Assembly Clerk, Engr. Lanre Bisiriyu among others.
