Gwoza Insecurity: Yusuf Ibili murdered, and one others died, as Nigeria Police declare Jude Ibili wanted


With the recent Violence in North East Nigeria, Borno state in particular is now one of the country deadliest security threat after Boko haram in the Nigeria religion of North East and banditry in Northwest.

The wife of Yusuf ibili Mrs Aisha Ibili wiped her face with a white scarf he narrate how her husband Mustapha ibili Yusuf was killed by Fulani herdsmen in the town of Gwoza in Borno state of Nigeria.

Good people of Gwoza in Borno state, was at the weekend experienced a total blood shed when a group of fulani herdsmen invaded the community by nomadic herdsmen who move cow from one place to another.



According to Eyewitness Mr Wilson zara, who spoke to journalists, she said around around 2pm to 2.30 pm zara told the local media’s who was on grand, I saw a group of fulani herdsmen who invaded Mr ibili Yusuf ,Farm with weapons as they invaded the farmland I quickly ran in the opposite direction for safety, that was how I was able to escaped as she hold back her tears,the herdsmen continue to shoot sporadically into the air.

They tortured Mr Yusuf ibili with his son Jude ibili, who was working together in the farmland before I saw Ali, and Abu who was friends to the son Jude ibili came to join the fight.

Murdered by Herdsmen

However according to locals who spoke to journalists said that the village continues to experience violence attack from Boko Haram and the fulani herdsmen on daily basis saying that the violence have make 60 percent of the Gwoza people homeless in there own fatherland.

The clashes, mostly between Muslim Fulani herders and Christian farmers from the Gwoza and fulani ethnic groups, is often painted as ethnoreligious.

But analysts have said climate change and scarcity of pastoral land is pitting the farmers and herders against each other, irrespective of faith.

According to Eyewitness Mr Iyabi Stephen, said that Mr Ibili Yusuf, who have critized the government due to how it handle the religion and ethnics issues in the state,he further said that Gwoza community who was last attacked in 12th November 2016, afternoon he blamed the herders,for the attack and the killing of Mr Ibili Yusuf. 

“No one expected it; we fled without picking a thing.Others were killed during the shooting by the herdsmen for the sake of their farms or produce,” he told the newsmen.

Mr Iyabi still suffered some losses. Those who attacked his community set fire on 200 bags of rice, 65 bags of sorghum, and five bags of bambara nuts and bags of maize he stored after harvest.

Mr Ibrahim ibili who spoke to journalists as he continue to lament how he brother Mr Yusuf Ibili, was killed by the fulani herdsmen as he speak with so much pains, he recalled that the Fulani herdsmen as continues to theatened his brother on several occasions if he try to stop then from feeding the cows with his farm produces, but my late brother Mr Yusuf Ibili, has reported to the police on several occasions but the authorities couldn’t do anything to being peace and settle the situation because of the power in place.

My brother Yusuf Ibili was attacked in his farmland with his son tortured and brutally killed and until now his son Jude Ibili has disappeared because the Fulani herdsmen are chassing to kill him, and been declared wanted by the police on the allegation of killing a fulani herder Mr Sakura Abass, along with his 2 friends Mr Ali,and Abu, inciting violence in Gwoza, and triba war. We don’t know if we live in banana Republic were rule of law don’t work.

But according to the spokesperson from the Fulani herdsmen in the area Mr Bua Fintiri, said that the crisis that happened which lead to the death of Mr Ibili Yusuf, and Sakura Abass should be blames on both the farmers and herdsmen because in recent times the farmers has killed the cow of peace and lovely herdsmen but the media has not been fair to the hardsmers, because they don’t have somebody to speak for them.

According to the police in Gwoza community said that some groups of persons has been arrested that lead to the killing of 2 people Yusuf Ibili and sarkura abbas a Fulani herdsman who was killed following the violent clash between the herders and Yusuf Ibili, we have a total of 4 suspects in our custody namely, Mr Kasu Ali a 23 year’s old, Mr Jigo Abu a 24 years old, Dandawo Arzika 28th years old, and Maidawa Hankurau 31 years old.

The police command said that all the people involved in the violence has been arrested except one Jude Ibili the son of the late deceased Yusuf Ibili, we Mobilised to his residents but be escaped an arrest we quickly contacted the Edo police Division of the police were the mother of Jude ibili lives but he was not found, on this Notice we declared Jude ibili wanted for involving the violence that occurred on 30th December 2016, we called on the lovely citizens of Federal Republic of Nigeria to report Mr. Jude ibili to the nearest police were ever he is found.

A group of Fulani herdsmen along some banditry who have been terrorising the Gwoza Local Government, after looking for Jude ibili,in all possible locations the Fulani herdsmen alongside with Bokoharam set the house of Mr. Ibili Yusuf ablaze, on 2nd of January 2017, the incidents which make many residents to flee for life and safety.Gwoza town in Borno state has been a centre of different terrorist attack ranging from Bokoharam to Fulani herdsmen, kidnapping,and banditry in the state.

As the time of Reporting this news the whereabouts of Mr Jude ibili, who is on police wanted listed as been of the run.

Borno state is one of the insecure state in Nigeria due to Bokoharam an Islamic terrorist organisation who is against western Education as taken over some local government in borno state.

According to undisclosed Eyewitness who said that Mr Yusuf ibili,and his family has been on Bokoharam and fulani herdsmen target list ,due to his refuser to withdraw his kids From school.
